KALISPELL, Mont. –
Davis Drewek's white-hot start to the season continues, hitting two more home runs Tuesday evening in a 12-2 victory over the Glacier Range Riders.
Oakland's first day of their road did not have the most auspicious of starts. The team arrived in the early morning of Tuesday after a travel day plagued with flight delays. But it seemed to have little effect on their play as in the first inning, Drewek gave Oakland an early lead with a 2-run shot.
The early scoring continued when Darryl Buggs came up clutch with a 2-run single in the second inning to make it a 4-1 game.
Luke Short had his longest outing of the young season, working in and out of jams through five innings of work. He only gave up one run, scattering five hits and four walks.
As if to reward their ace, the Ballers broke out with a big sixth inning.
Drewek had his second two-run homer of the night, a prestigious blast that broke a light pannel above the scoreboard.
A flurry of hits came after – a sac fly for Danny Harris, and RBI double for Michael O'Hara in his return to the lineup, an RBI triple for Buggs, and Nick Leehey had his first hit and RBI on a single. Six runs came in and it was a 10-1 game.
Christian Almanza and O'Hara each added an RBI single in the seventh inning, and the combination of Conner Richardson, Carson Lambert, and Ethan Paulson combined to not allow an earned run in the final four innings.
Just as they did last year, the Ballers opened up their road schedule with a win in Kalispell. The win puts them three games over .500 for the first time this season and they've now won the opener in each of their three series.
Five more games remain against Glacier and a whopping 11 in the road trip. So a good start to be sure, with one exception. Tremayne Cobb Jr. left in the middle of the game with an ankle injury, he is expected to be day-to-day and is unlikely to play before the weekend matchups.
You can catch the action for game 2 tomorrow at 6:00 pm on 860 AM, 860amtheanswer.com, and the Ballers YouTube page.
