Ballers Announce Coaching Staff Additions

Ballers Announce Coaching Staff Additions

OAKLAND, Calif. - April 1, 2024

The Oakland Ballers have hired Jim Dedrick as the team's pitching coach and Darold "Dee" Brown as the team's bullpen coach.

Dedrick is a former pitcher who had an 11-year career with six MLB organizations, including time in the Major Leagues with the Baltimore Orioles. A southern California native, he has been a scout and coach for over 20 years with the Cubs, D'Backs, and most recently, the Pirates.

Brown was drafted in both 1992 and 1993 while he was pitching at Laney College in Oakland. Brown pitched 10 years in the minors with the Cubs and the Braves and spent the following 17 years as a scout for the D'Backs, Blue Jays, and Tigers.

"Being able to bring in two coaches with the kinds of backgrounds they have in scouting really bolsters our staff for our first season. The experience Jim and Dee have in not only player evaluation but instruction as well means they both will be huge contributors for us. I've said it before but it should be even more apparent now: this club will have one of the most experienced and well rounded coaching staffs in the independent or minor leagues."
- Don Wakamatsu, Executive Vice President, Baseball Operations

The Ballers will have a chance for players to put themselves in front of the team's coaches at their Open Tryout on April 6 at Laney College. Players can register for the event through the Ballers website or the links on the team's social media pages. For more information on the Oakland Ballers visit our website at www.oaklandballers.com.
